Classic Novels

February 17, 2009

I am kinda addicted to reading classic novels lately. Almost every week, this crazy girl buys one or two classic novels and finding another new classic novel that must be bought after reading the story of the novel online on Wikipedia (love this site! Really great in summarizing the whole story of a particular book. Kinda like cheating on peeking the end of the book huehe3). It seems like everyone into reading classic novels lately with all much discounted classic books going on around.

I’ve still got tons of classic books which I haven’t read yet. Now I am like rushing into reading them but still at you-know-slow-speed, pace by pace reaching the end of the story by enjoying the scenes of the story, laughing along with the funny scenes, getting annoyed with the crybaby heroine, wanna punch the annoying arrogant male character and dreaming along to have the same love story (which of course won’t happen).

Some of the classic books I have read:

  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Sense and Sensibility
  • Mansfield Park

All the novels were by Jane Austen and I am currently reading “Emma”. I know! All are Jane Austen novels. Can’t help it! I am kinda a fan of hers right now.

Other novels which I have yet to read:

  • ‘Northanger Abbey’ and ‘Persuasion’ by Jane Austen
  • ‘Tale of Two Cities’ and ‘The Bleak House’ by Charles Dickens
  • ‘Tenant of Wildfeld Hall’ by Anne Bronte
  • ‘North and South’ by Elizabeth Gaskell
  • ‘Evelina’ by Francess Burney
  • ‘Vanity Fair’ by William Makepiece Thackeray

I cannot wait to read of all them. One of the reason of reading those classic novels because I am kinda fascinated by the Victorian times and the customes and the cultures of people of that time. Theirs were so very very different from us now at modern times but some things still stay the same like “true love” HA3
