Perfume – ⊿ (Triangle)

July 14, 2009

One of the new released JPop album I am currently addicted to is the third album by Perfume, titled Triangle. As usual, the album is chock-full with techno-pop songs, kinda like the Nintendo old game songs. I thought it was gonna be like the two predecessor albums, it did though but after listening to Triangle many times, I became to like almost all the tracks, the songs grew catchier the more you listen to them.

Tracklist:

  1. Take Off
  2. love the world
  3. Dream Fighter
  4. edge
  5. NIGHT FLIGHT
  6. Kiss and Music
  7. Zero Gravity
  8. I still love u
  9. The best thing
  10. Speed of Sound
  11. One Room Disco
  12. Negai (Album Mix)

Some of my favourite songs are ‘love the world’, ‘I still love u’,  ‘Negai’ and  ‘One Room Disco’. I chose ‘One Room Disco’ as my ringtone specifically for my brother, since it is one of the loudest tracks on my phone (I am kinda deaf when someone rings me and always takes ages for me to answer my phone, hence the ringtone for my brother since he always complains especially). I really did not like Track 4, edge coz of the repeated words and also the melody is like repeated all over too, can get really annoying to me. Any Perfume fans or anyone else who likes techno-pop songs should not miss listening to Triangle, the album won’t disappoint you.

Rating: 8.5/10

‘I still love u’ PV is kinda disappointing compared with the song, only white background and close-up shots of Perfume singing.

Mai Fukui – MY SONG FOR YOU

March 7, 2009

I just discover a new addiction to a new JPop artist, Mai Fukui after listening to her debut album [MY SONG FOR YOU]. She is like a crossover between ayaka and Miho Fukuhara, in her style of music is like that towards ayaka but her voice is more like a cross between ayaka and Miho Fukuhara. Her voice is a bit deep, coarse but soothing and soft at times especially when she sings ballad songs.

Mai Fukui

Mai Fukui first released “Ai no Uta” as a theme song for Koizora TV series on 20 August 2008. This is the strongest song on her debut album and also strongest single as it reached the top 20 on Oricon chart. The PV is very simple and much better than “Can Can” clip, showing her singing on the fields of green, singing and blown by the wind. I like her dress on the music clip, a white flowy dress like shown on this pic below.

Mai Fukui - Ai no Uta

Her other two singles next released didn’t fare so well like its predecessor single, both “Lucky” released on 19 November 2008 and “Can Can” released on 4 February 2009. PV for “Can Can” was a bit boring, just showing her hitting drums and singing on a kinda black and white background. I just looked at the screencaps and don’t even bother looking at the whole PV, but the song is a cheerful-guitar-pop-rock-fun song, it is building to get better at the chorus. I like the part where the guitar remains strumming throughout the song.

Mai Fukui - My Song for You

I must say I almost like the whole tracks on the album, with my favourites including the ballads “Ai no Uta”, “Aoi E”, “Promise You”, and “My Song for You” and more uptempo “I wanna be a rock roll star” and “Hate Myself”. Overall the whole album has the whole balance of pop and rock vibes within. The whole tracks in the album is totally worth listening. I really recommend this to anyone wanting to try listening to new JPop artists and any fans of ayaka or Miho Fukuhara.

mixed problems, huh?

October 25, 2008

Still no ideas for my writing assignment next week…

Where should I find the ideas? I am still stuck in my own world. Maybe I should start writing what comes on my mind and then I fix them bits by bits. I don’t want to produce a masterpiece maybe just a piece of writing which comes from my heart and which I think is the best options.

Well… It is best if I write about that incident. I thought he knew about the big news already. I actually texted him back maybe in a wrong way and maybe he misunderstood what I meant. He got angry in saying that I was hiding something from him and I haven’t trusted him yet. That part was funny because I really was watching DVD “Red Cliff” last night and that movie actually still continued into another installment (can’t wait for it!!!!). Back to the problem, I told him not to be so sensitive and I will tell him today anyway. He just texted back “Leave it”. Not sure if he was angry or not… I’ll find out today but I was laughing last night because when I read the sms again, I was sure I misplaced the words, like sounding I was angry but I was not. I was in happy mood last night and maybe I typed the sms hurriedly and not put any attentions to it because we were going to watch DVD in a second.

Now I feel a little bit burden has come off… This is sometimes the space where I can talk freely without anyone knowing as I remain anonymous.

Wanna share a new song which I am newly addicted to… It is a new ballad by Mika Nakashima called “Orion”. The PV features the famous Japanese actress, Erika Toda, who is one of my favourite actress. Firstly, I don’t recognise her as she looks very very different with her newly curly hair but as I watched the PV further, I can see that that’s really her. This song is really good in both lyrically and musically. I haven’t heard any ballad from Mika Nakashima for a long while but this song really made me liked her best when she sang ballad songs.
